Frequently Asked Questions

“It doesn’t matter who walks in these doors. Every single person has the potential to do well here. Every single person has the potential to succeed.”

Chike, Fundraising Manager, Toronto Door Offices

Representing the best non-profits and the most pressing issues of our time, fundraisers are changing the world one donor at a time. If you enjoy working outdoors, meeting new people every day and want to inspire positive change for the world, then this is the career for you.

We pride ourselves on maintaining strong ethical standards at Public Outreach and one of the ways we do this is by strictly paying ALL of our staff with a guaranteed hourly wage. We believe commission and charities just don’t mix! Our starting wages generally depend on the city you’re applying for.

We specialize in face-to-face and phone fundraising! This means our staff approach the public at the door, on the streets, in malls and over the phone. We interact with the public by having compassionate information based discussions about the state of our world to inspire action on important issues facing our societies and communities.

On your first day you will meet a leader on your new team! You’ll receive comprehensive in-house training, a fun interactive process we’ve honed for years! You’ll be working with seasoned vets and new staff hired around the same time as you.

We’ll walk you through everything you need to know, set goals with you, and give you all the tools you’ll need to be successful here!

Sometimes staff do work alone – especially if you’re fundraising for our door and malls program. That said, training and briefings are always done in groups. Also, you will never be out of touch from your managers via mobile.

In our experience, volunteers rarely have the time to become paid face-to-face fundraising staff. Face-to-Face Fundraising is a skill that requires a lot of training and practice in the field. Public Outreach Staff are trained to deal with the public professionally and as result recruit higher quality donors.
